Totoku MDT-941D 9-Inch CRT to LCD Custom Replacement — Case Study
The Totoku MDT-941D is a 9-inch monochrome CRT widely used in Mitsubishi and other CNC applications. It is one of the more common Totoku display models, and finding working replacements has become increasingly difficult as these CRTs age beyond their 15,000-hour design life. This case study demonstrates a successful plug-and-play LCD upgrade using the KTV800M module.

The Challenge
The MDT-941D CRT had developed a persistent ghost image (burn-in) from years of displaying the same CNC interface, making it difficult to read changing values. The CRT also exhibited significant brightness loss — estimated at 60% below original specification. The customer had been "managing" the issue with a task light for over a year, but it had finally become unworkable.

The Solution
We installed a KTV800M 9-inch TFT LCD module as a direct replacement. The module uses the same connector and pinout as the original MDT-941D — no adapter required. The DC 24V power connects to the same terminals. Installation time was under 15 minutes. The 400 cd/m² LCD completely eliminated the burn-in issue (since TFT panels don't suffer from phosphor burn-in), provided a crisp, high-contrast image, and restored full readability. The customer ordered two more units for their other machines the same day.
