Totoku MDT-925PS 9-Inch CRT to LCD Custom Replacement — Case Study

The Totoku MDT-925PS is a 9-inch monochrome/color CRT found on compact CNC equipment and industrial controllers. Despite its small size, replacing it with an off-the-shelf LCD is challenging due to the non-standard signal interface and mounting configuration. This case study shows a successful MDT-925PS replacement using a KTV800M 9-inch TFT LCD module with a custom adapter.

The Challenge

The MDT-925PS CRT was failing with a dim, unreadable display. The 9-inch form factor made it difficult to find a direct LCD replacement — most small-format LCDs use different mounting patterns and signal protocols. The machine was idle, and production was at risk. The customer needed a fast, reliable solution.

The Solution

We provided a KTV800M 9-inch TFT LCD module (800×600 resolution, LED backlight) with a custom signal interface that matches the MDT-925PS pinout exactly. The module fits the original cutout without any panel modification. The DC 24V power is drawn from the existing rail. Installation was completed in 15 minutes — remove, mount, connect, power on. The CNC control displayed correctly on first boot with zero parameter changes.
