The Challenge

The Totoku CDT14149B-1A CRT had developed a dim display with noticeable flicker — classic signs of aging flyback transformer and CRT phosphor degradation. The OEM CRT was discontinued, and the equipment manufacturer quoted a full control board replacement at over $5,000. The customer needed a practical, cost-effective LCD upgrade that would restore the display without replacing the entire control system.

The Solution

We supplied a KTV148 12.1-inch TFT LCD with a custom signal adapter and mounting bracket. The bracket was precision-fabricated to match the existing screw holes, making installation a simple bolt-on process. The LCD accepts DC 24V from the same power rail the CRT used. The signal adapter converts the Totoku's RGB output to drive the TFT panel at its native 800×600 resolution. Installation took 20 minutes on-site. The customer reported dramatically improved readability — the 400 cd/m² LCD was more than twice as bright as the worn CRT, with perfect stability and no flicker.
