Totoku CDT14148B CRT to LCD Custom Replacement — Case Study
The Totoku CDT14148B is a 14-inch color CRT display used on various CNC and industrial equipment. Totoku (also known as TOTOKU Electric) manufactured high-reliability CRTs for OEM applications, and the CDT14148B was one of their 14-inch models featuring a 15-pin D-Sub RGB interface. When this CRT fails — dim image, color shift, or no display — the replacement is a straightforward LCD upgrade using our KTV148 12.1-inch TFT LCD module with a custom adapter bracket.

The Challenge
The customer's Totoku CDT14148B CRT had developed a severe color shift and dim image, making it impossible to read critical machine data. The original CRT used a 15-pin D-Sub RGB interface that isn't directly compatible with standard LCD monitors. OEM replacement CRTs were no longer available, and a full system replacement would cost thousands. The customer needed a custom LCD solution that could read the 15-pin RGB signal and fit the existing cutout.

The Solution
We provided a KTV148 12.1-inch TFT LCD module (800×600 resolution, 400 cd/m² brightness, LED backlight) with a custom signal adapter that reads the Totoku's 15-pin RGB output directly. A precision-machined mounting adapter plate bridges the original 14-inch CRT bezel opening to the 12.1-inch LCD panel, ensuring a professional flush finish. The complete installation took under 30 minutes: remove old CRT, mount LCD with adapter plate, connect signal and power, power on. No parameter changes, no software configuration.
