Q: Can I repair the backlight myself?
Technically yes, but it requires opening the display housing, discharging high voltage (inverters can hold a charge), and handling fragile CCFFL tubes. Unless you have experience, we recommend sending it to us or replacing the unit. The cost of a new CCFFL tube + your time usually exceeds the cost of an LCD upgrade.
Q: How long does a Siemens SINUMERIK display typically last?
The display panel itself can last 15+ years, but the backlight (CCFFL tubes) typically fails after 8β11-years of normal use. The inverter (which powers the backlight) often fails around the same time.
